Reality Is a Noun (new international art )
Reality
is a
noun.
reality-" The dream of a mad philosopher"
( A cynical view of the world by Ambrose Bierce)
"Existence is what you make of it"
(Jack Kerouac).
" If we understood the enigmas of life, there would be no need for art.”
(Albert Camus’)
"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
(Bill Clinton, during his 1998 testimony on the Monica Lewinsky affair.)
These images represent works of Art that expand and expound on our ideas about our experiences as conscious citizens of this world.
Each artist represented here, has brought their personal psychology, and artistic interpretations about their encounters with the world at large and presented it in a way that invites a deeper exploration of the representation of our ideas of "reality".

This work contains a keen awareness of it's lineage with the medium of photography, and of it's relationships inside the current cannon's of art and culture. These photographically derived works, seem to be taunting the viewer into playing a game with their own preconceived notions, and to challenge the viewers own comfort with their expectations of reality, and and beyond. The images offer no answers, no easy resolutions, no concrete data. Each piece seems linked primarily by the appearance that each began as an actual encounter or encounters inside the artist's physical world.

It is most likely, that I was particularly drawn to these images because of the internal contradictions, and pluralities eluded to, that seem to flaunt their existence inside these works. Perhaps these characteristics do not exist. Or it was not the Artists intentions to begin with. Perhaps it is simply my own internal psyche of conflict, and contradictions that led me to these choices. I do know that none of these images will sit by idly, and graciously hand over concrete evidence, or reassuring answers, easily.
We (the viewer) are confronted with dichotomies, and possibilities that go straight inside the artists mind, and then reverberate back to our own.
Individually each piece seems to radiate a very "self-conscious vibe" as if they were two-dimensional organisms with an "unexplained soul."
As a group, a wider exploration is possible, allowing the images, to play-off each other, and giving the viewer a chance to perform their own improvisational mind game. (Even though we do it all the time.)
Consider these images as "vehicles for further possibilities"
We are visiting them.
I am almost conviced that ...
Reality
is a
noun.
